Spelling Words and Love

I just watched the 2005 movie, Akeelah and the Bee. I have loved spelling even
as a kid, but this movie presented so much words that I wasn’t familiar of. The
wide variety of words out there..it’s amazing.

So what made the movie so special for me?

First off, the movie presented so much about how we seem to be unsure of
ourselves. We doubt ourselves, we fear what is to come, and other than that, the
people around us may not show much support and optimism about the path we
take.

We look at how impossible things could be, and how we can’t be able to reach it.

And here’s this quote mentioned in the movie:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we
are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”

So here’s the thing: You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. (Psalms 139:14) It’s not true that some others are just better than you, for we are equally amazing. God made you special, and He has a purpose for your existence.

You are amazing! You’re not a nobody. You’ll always be special for who you are in God’s eyes.

But then, some of us may already know this. They think they are brilliant and valuable and love themselves pretty much – but love doesn’t stop there. Sometimes it’s our PRIDE that can be the issue getting in the way. These people think they are better than others. They use others to get what they want, and to serve themselves. And that’s not what God wants.

Akeelah got help from the people around her, because indeed – we would grow into
so much more with others than on our own. And in the end, Dylan and Akeelah work
together so they could both be winners.

What is our success, what is our looking at the mirror saying, “I’m so special” when we don’t treat others the same way? We may be amazing, and great in our own way, but it doesn’t stop there – it doesn’t stop within ourselves. We are called to LOVE.

By loving not for our own selfish reasons, by loving not to uplift ourselves, we are able to spread the message to others that they ARE amazing. And they are a life worth saving.

You are a LIFE worth saving. You ARE THAT life that God gave His own life for. He gave His life for you so that you may know that you ARE SO VERY much LOVED by the Creator of the Universe Himself.

And we get to be part of that by letting His love that is in us flow outside…not just inside. NOT just for yourself.

Like what the Bible says, “If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.” 1 Corinthians 13:1

And by loving, you know everything just feels right. For there is so much more to life than just living for ourselves.
