Counting on You

Other than occasionally making artstuff and working on a few random things like work, most of my recent days have been spent staring blankly towards nowhere. I’ve been thinking thoughts about who I should be but am not. Why do I still do this, in spite of the opportunities that obviously present themselves?

I’ve seen a year – heck, three years – blindly pass me by, Not saying nothing happened at all during those years, but…something more could have. I could be jumping into wells and riding paper planes. instead I contemplate about these things that have passed and blaming all the events that never happened.

I might even have lost sight of what Lightyoke is all about – which is carrying a lighter burden. Since…I know I shouldn’t be going easy now. So, yeah, things have been going very slow.

Thinking of You

Art by Tactician Jenro / Jose Chipeco

“I was surprised by a bluebird
He came and sat next to me
I was so blue he was so happy
He reminded me of you
I’m thinking of you.”
I’m always on the lookout for music I find interesting and just recently discovered Matthew Parker, a new Christian artist who’s just the same age as I am.

One of my favorite songs he wrote is “Thinking of You” an Owl City-sound alike song. I decided to make this fanart out of it, based on the lyrics. You can listen to it here.

Looking Back at School

“Trapped By School” by DestinyBlue

My days in school had a lot of mixed up memories. Now that I’m older, looking back, there were things I could have changed. It would have been great if I made the most out of the time as a teenager. But like most kids – I was often just going along and letting things be..

The prevailing memory I’ve had back then was how I was caring so much about what others thought about me and ending up falling short. Somehow I grew up adapting that way of thinking where people’s eyes, scores and judgments needed to be regarded a lot. That seed made much anxiety bloom and I was a wreck on the inside. I was awkward and often thought I was disregarded. That people could stand on their own and I couldn’t.

Childhood Memories and Beginnings

How did I start with art and writing? What were my first works and who was the 'yami-joey' of deviantart back then?

I started with my deviantart account when I was 13 years old. Our cousin introduced both me and my sister to dA.

I became a bit known in dA for my fan-comics to the GBA games in the “Fire Emblem” series, where I made JASFEC (Just A Simple Fire Emblem Comic).

Those were good days since I had a lot of faves and comments. Well, I sure did know how to make good humor back then. :P

But the sad thing happened when my comics got deleted from dA and our PC got reformatted,

and all my JASFECs just disappeared which is really very sad.

Years before that, when I was younger, in 2nd or 3rd grade,

I have been making my own comics and interactive notebook games.

I created the comic series entitled “Timmy”, about the “Tim family” which is a family-adventure-humor sort of comic.

However those notebooks I’ve written in were thrown off. >_< I spilled out a lot of CREATIVE JUICE which was quite sad…

When I got my own GBA, I got hooked on games like Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (I’ve written a PS2 sequel to that),

Harvest Moon (I married Elli), Pokemon, and my top favorites were Fire Emblem and Advance Wars

(Turn-Based Strategy FTW). I’ve written fan-stories and a lot more fan-fiction about these games.

So there you have it, my younger years. Right now, I kind of wished I were still back there.

There are things that you just couldn’t change and come back to any longer…
